Terms of Service
Last updated October 5, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Mechanym: the app for iPhone and iPad, the website at mechanym.com, the daily secret you can play there, and Mechanym Plus.
Mechanym is provided by Dennis Müller. If you don't agree to these Terms, please don't use Mechanym.
1. Accepting these Terms
By playing Mechanym in the app or on the website, subscribing to Plus, or opening a link someone shared, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. The service
Mechanym is a word game. Each machine hides a rule, a riddle, or a limit, and you figure it out by feeding it words. A daily secret is free for everyone in the app and on the website. Rounds run on our server, which uses an AI model to answer and judge what you type.
3. The app license
The app is licensed to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These Terms add to it. If they conflict, the Apple agreement governs the app license.
4. Mechanym Plus
- Plus is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store. It adds extra secrets, the daily archive, the other machines, and making your own secrets for friends. The daily secret stays free.
- The price and billing period are shown before you subscribe. Apple charges your Apple ID and renews the subscription until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time in your Apple ID's subscription settings. Plus stays active until the end of the paid period.
- Apple handles payments and refunds under its own terms. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- What Plus includes may change over time. We won't remove what you've paid for during a billing period.
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights.
5. What you type
Your words, guesses, and the custom secrets you create stay yours. You give us permission to process them to run the game, including sending them to our AI provider, as the Privacy Policy describes.
Don't type personal information, and don't create secrets that are unlawful, hateful, harassing, or infringe someone else's rights. A link to a custom secret contains the secret itself, so anyone you share it with can read it. You're responsible for the secrets you share.
6. AI answers
The machine's answers and verdicts come from an AI model. They can be surprising, inconsistent, or simply wrong, and a guess you consider correct may be judged otherwise. Enjoy them as part of a game, and don't rely on them as facts.
7. Fair play
Please don't:
- use bots, scripts, or other automation to play or to call our API
- get around usage limits, device or browser checks, or the Plus paywall
- try to extract the hidden rules, the AI model's instructions, or other data from the service
- disrupt, overload, or attack the service
- use Mechanym in a way that breaks the law
8. Intellectual property
Mechanym, its machines, puzzles, design, text, graphics, and code belong to Dennis Müller or its licensors. Sharing your results and challenge links is welcome. Anything beyond that, such as copying the puzzles or using the Mechanym name or machines in a way that suggests endorsement, needs our permission.
9. Changes and availability
Mechanym will change. We may add, change, or remove machines, puzzles, and features, and some days may have no daily secret. We aim to keep the game running but can't promise it will always be available or free of errors, and an app update may be needed to keep playing.
10. Liability
We're fully liable for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, and under the German Product Liability Act.
For slight negligence, we're only liable if we breach an obligation that is essential to the service and that you rely on, and then only for the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of service. Otherwise, we're not liable for slight negligence.
11. Termination
You can stop using Mechanym at any time and cancel Plus in your Apple ID settings. We may block access for anyone who seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms.
12. Governing law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when Mechanym or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision. We'll point out material changes on the website or in the app, and they apply from the next time you play after they take effect.
